Ola to add 10,000 electric rickshaws to its vehicles fleet in India

Rickshaws are popular public transport in India and due to this Ola added them to its ride hailing option with regular taxis and suv. But now under its “Mission: Electric,” program Ola has decided to add 10,000 electric rickshaws to its fleet.

Company already has been testing electric vehicles in Nagpur as part of its ev program, and now it wants to carry out this on a large scale deploying in multiple cities.

Ola representative told TechCrunch that “with new technologies like battery swapping, the charging experience has been significantly improved.” Ola has also experimenting with adding solar rooftops on rickshaws.

And Ola is willing to work with any city committed to sustainable mobility solutions. We’ll see how this pans out as Indian government having a ambitious goal to make all new vehicles electric, it haven’t yet made any specific policies for this or launched any initiatives.
