Social media is a medium which connects us with our friends and family living so far, But with this new study, using social media increases depression and loneliness.

Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania has conducted a test on undergraduate students and concluded that reducing social media usage led to a notable reduction in the feeling of loneliness among the subjects.

Melissa G. Hunt from the research team said, “Here’s the bottom line. Using less social media than you normally would, leads to significant decreases in both depression and loneliness”.
